Strikers re-sign Defenders Martyn Lancaster and Aaron Hohlbein

Today the Strikers announced the re-signing of two key defenders, It's a good sign of things to come for Striker Likers!
Here is a little about them:

English defender Martyn Lancaster. Lancaster was born November 10, 1980 in Wigan, England.

He began his career playing for Chester City in the English Football League and Football Conference between 1998 and 2003. Martyn continued his career playing for Leigh RMI, Northwich Victoria and Southport, Lancaster moved to the United States in 2006 to join Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Second Division. He later signed for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 and then joined Scottish side Queen of the South. In 2009 he scored two goals for Queens, but left at the end of the season to signed for Swedish side Ljungskile. Martyn returned to the states to play with Miami FC of the USSF Division 2 Professional League.

With Miami FC, Lancaster became a fan favorite on and off the pitch. Martyn is one of those few players that always came by the Miami Ultras tailgates to say hi to the fans, be it before or after the games. A couple of the Ultras even wrote a piece called "Hanging out with Martyn Lancaster" over at the Ultras site. He is a class act and a true professional. We welcome the return of Martyn as a sign of things to come by the Strikers front office. Well done!
Following is a video of Martyn during his time at Atlanta:

The Strikers have signed Defender Aaron Hohlbein born August 16, 1985 in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Hohlbein played college soccer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 2003 to 2006. Over four years he started in all 77 of his appearances and managed 6 goals and 7 assists. During his college years he also played with the Michigan Bucks of the United Soccer Leagues and the Princeton 56ers in the National Premier Soccer League.

He was drafted in the first round, 3rd overall, by the Kansas City Wizards in 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. On August 5, 2010 he was loaned to Miami FC for the remainder of the USSF D2 Pro League.

Hohlbein was chosen by the Columbus Crew with the second selection of stage 1 of the 2010 MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 08, 2010 but did not sign.

VIDEO: Jozy Touches Down in Turkey

Young Jozy arrived at his new club in Turkey today and was greeted at the airport by reporters and a f*cking oboe player. Does anyone actually like the oboe? And is that the appropriate way to greet The Boy King of New York & Jersey? Dude needs to hear "6 Foot 7" or "No Hands", some sh*t he can swag off to not snakecharmer music.

Rare Footage of a Smiling, Laughing Michael Bradley Surfaces

I haven't seen Michael Bradley smile in...maybe ever actually. Some people call him Robocop because of his all-business demeanor & chrome-dome but I'm sure the guy has a laugh every now and then -possibly when people report that his old man has given a farewell speech to a team he's not been fired from for instance.

Apparently he's all smiles in Birmingham. And why not? He's 23 years-old, he's just signed for a fairly-large club in the BPL and they've already got him shilling for tickets for your probable debut against Fulham. I don't know about you but if it was me you couldn't tell me sh*t. Go on son, be happy.

NSR: Toro Y Moi "New Beat"

More laid back, funky goodness from South Carolina's Chaz Bundick. Like recently released track "Still Sound" this is less Quaaludey than the stuff on his debut album and has a slight "Cocked out in the 70's"-vibe about it. I can see Julianne Moore's character from Boogie Nights really digging this.

Charlies Davies In Rare Off-Season MLS News Explosion

CD9

Damn Charlie Davies, you just put the c***block on the All Star Game announcement. Well no, you didn't at all actually --Steven Goff maybe did just a 'lil bit though-- but news of your possible move to D.C. United dropping about 10 minutes after the All Star Game announcement was like a clusterbomb of MLS-related Twitlines.*

I mean c'mon it's the off-season, can't we spread some of the news out? Otherwise it's feast then famine; I may be satiated now but by 5p.m. I'm going to feel like snacking again.

*Twitline = Twitter headlines. I may have just made that up.

SF Approves of New RBNY Kit, Lance Amrstrong May Not

NewRBNY

Y'all seen the new RBNY away kits? It's the thingy in the image above. Love that they dropped the Tour-de-France faux-zipper/button thing of the last few years and brought in something minimal. I think for the first time since the rebrand they've actually produced a jersey that I would wear outside of a matchday.

2011 All Star Game Coming to RBA, Prepare to Ball Out

Gotham

For the first time since the Clinton administration the MLS All-Star Game is coming to New York. Or New Jersey to be more specific since Red Bull Arena is hosting the event which is great for me because that means I won't have to go away anywhere and sweat for a week. I get to sweat at home!

It's great for all y'all too because this most likely means I get to properly plan an All-Star week party to top all parties. Seriously, it's going to be some crazy sh*t like out of those SNL skits with Stefon; models, bottles and fire-breathing horses. Can't Wait.
