The Cosmos Come Alive in FIFA12
This is kind of incredible. Less than 48 hours after release some intrepid Cosmos fan has created a kits-and-all Cosmos team in FIFA12 based on the team that played in the Paul Scholes testimonial. That is dedication to the NYC2 dream folks.
I do wonder though if EA and the team in green missed an opportunity to make the classic Cosmos team as an unlockable team. Hate ‘em if you want but you know it would be fun to pit Pele, Chinaglia, Alberto and The Kaiser against today’s greats. Maybe next year.

TMZ Gets Ginger Confused, Mistakes Lalas for Lohan
OK that is a deceptive headline but I figured TMZ is on perpetual LiLo-watch so any ginger that gets caught in the cross-hairs is free game.
Anyway I have to agree with Alexi's assessment of Steve Jones' playing ability. Having seen him play first-hand he is shockingly good for a man of his age and build. And he will not hestate to run you over on his way to goal.

I know us soccer types don't always agree on things online but for once I think we can finally all be on the same page about something. If you have to sit, as opposed to stand, at your local MLS match wouldn't you agree that these are pretty much the best seats ever? The only way to improve them is to lose the guy next to you and replace them with smokestick of your choice*.

Tampa supporters continue to use the Rowdies name in vain so the Striker fans came up with the TIFO in the picture to the right to remind them that they are not the Rowdies.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers Defender Martyn Lancaster was elected by the Miami Ultras Supporters group and the fans as the 2011 player of the year during the Strikers vs Atlanta game.
Martyn has played the most minutes for the team this year, scoring a goal and leading by example. Perhaps Martyn's edge on the other players is the fact that he was always accesible to the fans. Every game, win or lose he would come out to meet the fans in the parking lot for a few minutes. While other players started to do this as well, it was Martyn who was the pioneer, so to speak, since last year.
Congrats to a true hero, who bleed Fort lauderdale Strikers Red and Gold. 'Sir' Martyn Lancaster 2011 Ultras player of the year!

Attention book nerds, there is a new American soccer tome on the block. It's called Soccer Made in St. Louis and it's about the secret history of Toledo, OH's underground Polish badminton leagues.
OK fine, it's about the obvious --St. Louis soccer-- and you should check it out. I haven't read it yet but come on, only about 2 American soccer books come out a year so get your debit cards out and do your bit at Amazon.com.

"Zelalem is not the first high school soccer player from the area to seek a pro career. Most famously, Freddy Adu, a native of Ghana and a naturalized U.S. citizen, signed with Major League Soccer in 2004 at age 14 and played regularly with D.C. United for three years before being traded to Real Salt Lake.Zelalem is a different case, in several ways. Contrasting the flash and explosiveness that made Adu an international sensation at age 12, Zelalem is a nuanced player who orchestrates from a deep central position and threads passes through narrow channels. Remember MLS Pictures? An orgy of baritoned narration and sexy slo-mo camera pans it was easily one of the best MLS-related shows to ever grace American television. Sure, it was slightly over-the-top & dramatic but damn was it pretty to look at. Someone should bring this back.
UPDATED: Here's a tip. Don't put videos on the interwebs and assume no one will find them. They will. This is how sex tapes come out. Furthermore if you have videos you need to put on the interwebs but don't want others to see don't title them and make them password protected BEFORE making them live for 18 hours. That will save you the shock of discovering your un-hidden video has been found.
Strikers make playoffs but look for more this Saturday versus Atlanta.
It's the last regular home game of the season for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. They've already clinched the playoffs but could secure a home playoff game and possibly 3rd place in the next 2 games. If the Strikers win this Saturday they secure the home game. But the following Saturday the last game of the season will be against rival Tampa.The Rowdies have already won the series against the Strikers and for the second season in a row have kept the Coastal Cup (Disputed between both Florida teams). But, the Strikers could finish the season ahead of Tampa in the standings in 3rd place (Carolina Railhawks and Puerto Rico Islanders have already secured 1st and 2nd). It's all about bragging rights at this point.
Atlanta comes to the Mecca (Lockhart Stadium) with nothing to win as they are already eliminated from the playoffs. The pressure is on the Strikers to secure their place at the top half of the standings and they'll want to do it in front of their fans. A win could, without doubt, bring a large crowd to the stadium and much needed boost to the team who has not made the playoffs since it's inaugural season when they were called Miami FC.
The Miami Ultras supporters group will also be giving out the 2011 Fort Lauderdale Strikers player of the year award. look for that right before the game!
Be sure to come out and support the Strikers this Saturday at 7:30 PM. Join the supporters Miami Ultras, Flight 19, etc at 4PM for the tailgate. You can also enjoy the Miami Food Trucks!

Hey y'all I think we may have a new heir to the MLS hip-hop throne. Hell, he may even be the new king really because it's not like anyone has fully claimed it for themselves. Steve Zakuani and Michael Lahoud & his boys at Chivas USA are trying to lay it down but neither have thrown down any that's unimpeachable.
Enter Rapids rookie Josh Janniere. His debut video under his nom de rap, General J, is short & sweet and certainly isn't Enter the 36 Chambers but this Canadian boy can rhyme and looks pretty damn natural doing it. Mad bonus points for using a Sade sample on the hook. Wonder if he can play soccer?

Veronica Paysse on ESPN Deportes Miami 1210 AM
Si, Burrito's new girlfriend, Veronica Paysse is now on the radio! You never heard of her? Well, Burrito's love affair with her began many a futbol years ago.In 2001 The Miami Fusion was shut down. Burrito's heart was broken and Burrito swear he would never see another MLS game again. EVERS!
Pero, one day when Uncle Ed was changing channels, and as Burrito was chewing on a bone, there, there, out of the corner of Burrito's eye he see a real mamacita! (Pardon the French). In 2002 the only thing that make Burrito watch MLS was Veronica.
But all good things come to an end. Veronica moved on to another TV channel and so Burrito again told MLS to go to hell! Si, again they brake Burrito's heart.
But just the other day, as usual, when Uncle Ed go to work he leave radio on for Burrito to listen to and this time he leave it on 1210 AM. Burrito hear her voice and is now addicted.You too should listen to ESPN Deportes Miami 1210 AM every morning from 9am to 12pm. It's in Spanish!
